Welcome to Me!

Hello, world!

Welcome to the first official post of 131 Consulting, my Social Media consultation business. Don’t even act like you aren’t excited about this.

A couple years ago, I decided to start my own business to help those who find the prospect of Social Media for business a bit overwhelming. It’s okay, don’t be ashamed. There are more of you than you think.

I didn’t launch right away, not until a few months ago. But then I got busy. Always a good thing, but bad for having time to grow the details of my business (like a website). And since I’m a control freak, I have to do it myself. Outsourcing is for the other guy.

Which probably makes you beg the question, “If she doesn’t believe in outsourcing, then when would I outsource to her?”

Good question!

Because you aren’t. Well, you are, but not in the way that you think. My consultation is short term. I don’t take full-time clients on long-term. I’ll take you on for three months, help integrate your brand into Social Media, teach you how to use it, get your numbers growing, then send you on your way (sort of). After those three months are over, my fees get cut down to a negotiated rate, and all I’ll do at that point is help you with maintenance. The rest will be up to you. I’ll send you updates about what’s changing in Social Media, and keep tabs on your pages to make sure you’re able to maintain your social media presence.

So the next big question: Why?

Why operate this way? Because Social Media can only work if you’re willing to put in the effort. You are the one who’s there to take the pictures, talk about what’s going on in your business, be at the events, a day-in-the-life-of, etc. etc…

So, that’s what I’m here for and what I can do for you. I’m well versed in all forms of Social Media, being that I’m also an avid user of almost all of them. One day I’ll post an image of my desk setup at home, but I don’t think you’re ready for that yet.

PS: I’m not your average consultant. I try to put on my Business Face when with clients, but that only goes so far. Social Media is all about being yourself and being distinctive. The public can always tell when you’re being disingenuous. So I won’t be either. If I swear in your presence, I’m genuinely sorry. No I’m not.

Happy Trails and Happy Holidays!
